Long Term Projects

Much of my photography is concerned with place and the way places change over time. Living in Melbourne since the late 1990s has allowed me to observe the city through a period of significant growth and transformation.

Melbourne's population has increased from approximately 3.4 million people in 2000 to more than 5 million today, and the effects of this change can be seen throughout the city. Housing density, urban expansion, gentrification, infrastructure, and changing commercial streets have all altered the character of Melbourne and its surrounding regions.

My long-term documentary projects examine these changes through photography. Working over years and sometimes decades, these projects explore suburban growth, urban redevelopment, industrial landscapes, regional cities, and the spaces that exist between the city and its edges.

Projects including High Street, Edgelands, and work made in regional Victoria investigate how places evolve and how people experience changing environments. The photographs aim to document not only the physical landscape, but also the social and cultural changes taking place across Melbourne and Victoria.
