One Day Photo Book

North Carlton

“I take so many photos and deliberate over what to print and what to send out into the world. I thought today, Can I make a photo book in one day? So after finishing lunch with a friend, I pulled out my camera and took a long walk. I started out in Smith Street, Collingwood an meandered my way across Fitzroy, North Fitzroy, East Brunswick, Coburg and maybe a few spots in between and shot about 200 frames. I got home and edited hard, within a couple of hours I had a finished product so to speak. It's not going to be a masterwork, but one day's work. I need to prove to myself that things don't need to be deliberated over for months, just feel and do some things"

That is what I wrote on the cover of the One Day Photo Book. I can't seem to find any more of the images except the two I've posted here, but it's quite interesting revisiting work made at such a pace. I sort of admire the intensity I put into this back then and the fact that I actually managed to pull it off.

Back in 2018, my practice was much more about high volume—I would often return from a two- or three-hour walk with a couple of hundred shots. As I've grown, I find I shoot much less and am far more deliberate. More recently, I'll go out and take as few as thirty or forty images in an afternoon and find I'm much happier with the results.

I can pin point the first image and the last few images and I’m able to see the route I took. I will continue to dig around in my various hard drives and cloud storage folders and see if I can find some more images.
